The anime film The Colors Within (Kimi no Iro) and the short project Garden of Remembrance have a lot in common. Both are directed by Naoko Yamada, and both were produced at Science SARU. Now, these two worldviews combine in a new collab visual.Check out what happens when Yamada’s two projects join forces in the art below.
The story of The Colors Within centers around Totsuko, a high-school student who attends a Christian Academy in Nagasaki and can see the hearts of people as colors. Whether they’re happy colors, sad colors, peaceful colors, frightened colors… In order to not darken her friend’s and family’s “colors,” Totsuko is careful to read the room and stretches the truth to keep them all brightly colored. They then meet a beautiful girl who radiates very striking colors and a boy who loves music in a used bookstore in the corner of town. The three come together and form a band to make the music of their adolescence.GKIDS has licensed both Garden of Remembrance and The Colors Within. The latter is currently playing in theaters across Japan, with Garden of Remembrance available on multiple streaming services.
