In a game seemingly years in the making, at the Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit tonight in Tokyo, the Like a Dragon series announced its next game – Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a spin-off of the eighth mainline entry in the series, this year’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. As noted in the title, the series takes to the seas with Goro Majima returning and becoming the captain of a pirate ship.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – Announcement Trailer
Much like Majima’s last stint as a playable character, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an action-adventure game much like the classic Yakuza games rather than the modern Like a Dragon games. Because of this, Maijima will have two fighting styles, the classic Mad Dog style, which brings back many of his classic moves, and the Sea Dog style, where he sports two guns and a pirate fit.
Alongside the game announcement, a story trailer for the Like a Dragon: Yakuza live-action drama was shown off, revealing that Munetaka Aoki, who was just revealed to be in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, will be playing young Majima.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be released on February 28, 2025, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Like a Dragon: Yakuza is set to be streamed worldwide over six episodes on Amazon Prime Video starting October 24 with the first three episodes and the last three episodes streaming a week later.
