Japanese record company Nippon Columbia has announced that actor Hikaru Makishima’s new digital single “Phoenix” will be available on digital services on October 8, 2024. The rock tune will be featured as the ending theme for the upcoming fall 2024 TV anime Haigakura.Makishima made his professional acting debut in 2015, and is well known for his role as Kaoru Kaido in The Prince of Tennis musicals (2016-2018), Ookurikara in the Touken Ranbu musicals (2019-2023), and the protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe in the Fire Force stage plays (2020-2022). “Phoenix” is his first anime theme song work. The press release says that the song is a refreshing rock number and that his extended vocals are also pleasant. The song is now featured in the anime’s latest character trailer below.

The TV anime adaptation of Shinobu Takayama’s fantasy manga series Haigakura is set to premiere in Japan on October 7, 2024. Junichi Yamamoto directs the TV anime at animation studio Typhoon Graphics. Yu Murai provides the series composition, Masaki Sato provides the character designs, and Yuhki Kurihara provides the music.The story of Haigakura takes place in Senkai, the sacred other world where immortals and humans live. Senkai is on the verge of collapse, so Ichiyou – a warrior-poet – uses a technique called Kessai to capture the gods who have been scattered all over the world, while Tenkou, Ichiyou’s follower, searches for the four evil gods who hold the key to restoring the world.
