The first season of the Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc anime just concluded, and with it comes news of a second season. Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc Season 2 is set to premiere in January 2025, with Netflix handling international streaming. A new key visual made its debut with the news:
Also known in English as Ultimate Muscle, the original Kinnikuman manga by Yudetamago has been serialized since 1979 in Shueisha publications such as Weekly Shonen Jump, Weekly Playboy, and Shu Play News. Akira Sato directs Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc at animation studio Production I.G. Makoto Fukami provides the series composition, Hirotaka Marufuji provides the character designs, and Yasuharu Takanashi provides the music.The story of Kinnikuman follows Kinnikuman, a clumsy and foolish superhero who discovers that he is actually the prince of Planet Kinniku, a world of mighty super humans, and who eventually grows to become the strongest wrestler in the world. Here’s the official synopsis:
Prince Kinnikuman, who came to Earth from Kinnikusei, a planet at the end of the universe, was always ridiculed by humans as a useless Chojin. However, by chance, he was given the right to participate in the Chojin World Cup, a tournament to determine the world’s best Chojin, and by a miracle, he won the championship. The following year, he even won it again!
Since then, Kinnikuman became a central figure among Seigi Chojin who protected the peace of the universe. With his friends, including Terryman and Robin Mask, he defeated the raging forces of the enemy, including Akuma Chojin, who planned to rule the world, and Perfect Chojin, who aimed to wipe out the weak Chojin on Earth.
In recognition of his achievements, Kinnikuman won the “Survival Match for the Kinnikusei Throne,” the final test of his career, and was crowned the 58th Great King of Kinnikusei! He returned to his home planet from Earth, got married, and said goodbye to eight years of fighting.
About a year and a half later, the entire universe was supposed to be at peace…
