Next month, fans can relive the 2022 adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura at a special exhibition in Tokyo. Themed after a “girl hunt with Ataru,” the event will feature rooms celebrating the many ladies (both human and alien) in Ataru’s life. And to celebrate, the venue will also be offering a collab menu!

Matsuya Ginza’s MG Café has announced a limited run of tasty treats inspired by the series, giving exhibition attendees the quick energy they need to follow Ataru on his quest. Start with Lum and Ataru’s “Game of Tag” French Toast for something sweet, or brave Cherry’s Ominous Curry if you’re in the mood for something savory:

The Urusei Yatsura All-Stars Exhibition will run from October 2-14 at Tokyo’s Matsuya Ginza. MG Café is located on the eighth floor of the venue: the same floor as the exhibition itself.

The first season of the new Urusei Yatsura anime adaptation aired for 23 episodes from October 2022 to March 2023, and the second season followed with 23 episodes from January to June 2024. Hideya Takahashi (Keijo!!!!!!!! director) acted as series director alongside Yasuhiro Kimura (2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team) with character designs by Naoyuki Asano (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) and series compositions written by Yuko Kakihara (The aquatope on white sand). David production handled the animation production.

Crunchyroll currently streams the 1981 Urusei Yatsura anime adaptation, describing it thus:

It all begins when aliens invade and threaten to conquer the Earth! However, one member of the human race is chosen at random to duel the aliens and save the planet: Ataru Moroboshi, a lecherous slacker from Tomobiki High School who begrudgingly participates. All he has to do? Play a game of tag and catch Lum — the beautiful alien princess in a tiger-stripe bikini — by the horns. Unfortunately for Ataru, it’s not so simple, since Lum can fly and deliver electric shocks! Perseverance pays off, but once he catches her, Ataru experiences another shock: He’s now Lum’s betrothed “darling” and she isn’t going back to her home planet anytime soon!
