Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari (translated to Nobita’s Picture World Story), the 44th feature film in the Doraemon anime franchise, is set to release in Japan on March 7, 2025. The film’s official X (formerly Twitter) has also opened with a teaser trailer introducing the film’s three original character — Claire, Mairo and Chai.
The website introduces the story as follows: “The story is set in the magnificent medieval European world depicted in the pictures. Doraemon and his friends dive into the ‘world of pictures’ and have a great adventure in this completely original story!!”Yukiyo Teramoto, who has directed the Doraemon TV anime series and became the first female director of the film series in 2007 with Doraemon: Nobita’s New Great Adventure into the Underworld, serves as director. Satoshi Ito, who has written many scripts for the Doraemon film series, provides the screenplay..
“I am directing a Doraemon movie for the first time in 12 years,” said Teramoto. “I am very excited to be in the world of adventure with Doraemon and his friends for the first time in a long time. This time, Doraemon the Movie goes on an adventure in pictures, but even though art is the subject matter, there is nothing stiff about it. It is a story that everyone from young children to adults can enjoy without thinking about anything difficult. There will be laughter, tears, emotions, action, mystery, and much more, so please look forward to it!”
The Doraemon franchise’s previous 43rd film, Doraemon: Nobita’s Earth Symphony released in Japan on March 1, 2024, then earned 3.8 billion yen (26.12 million USD) on 3.21 million admissions by April 15 according to Mantan Web.
