Singer-songwriter Sayuri passed away on September 20 at the age of 28. Her husband Amaarashi announced the news on her official X (formerly Twitter) on September 27. The funeral service was conducted only by relatives and related persons in accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family.The statement reads: “We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to Sayuri in her lifetime, and offer our heartfelt condolences with all of you. We respectfully ask that the media refrain from interviewing any of the people involved, out of respect for the deep grief of the family and relatives of Sayuri.”
Amaarashi also wrote on his own official X: “Even until the end of her life, when she was battling with a chronic illness, she was truly devoted to music. There is not much I can tell you, but this is an undeniable truth. Please accept the love that Sayuri-san gave birth to, and if you have received it, I want you to live through with it.”
Sayuri made her major debut from Sony Music Labels’ Ariora Japan label with “Mikazuki” (TV anime Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace ending theme) in August 2015, releasing nine singles (including one collaboration single with MY FIRST STORY) and three albums (including one hikigatari — singing with the guitar — album) during her career.Her anime theme song works also included:
