In its second weekend, OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom, an-all new film from the OVERLORD anime franchise, earned 183 million yen (1.28 million USD) on 116,000 admissions, a 42.5% week-on-week drop, staying in the same second place position it was last weekend according to Kogyo Tsushinsha. The 135-minute film now has accumulative of 716 million yen (4.99 million USD) earned from 440,000 ticket sales in ten days since debuting in Japanese cinemas on September 20. Following the theatrical release in Japan, OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom will be officially released in theaters in North America on November 8, 2024. The film will be screened in theaters in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.

Wonderful Precure! The Movie! Dokidoki ♡Game no Sekai de Daibouken! (translated to “Heart-Pounding — A great adventure in the world of games!”), the 33rd film in the Precure franchise, made 119 million yen (829,000 USD) on 92,600 admissions in its third weekend, moving up one spot from last weekend to third place. Since releasing on September 13, the film has built up a 16-day cumulative of 945 million yen (6.58 million USD) on 760,000 admissions. It has now become the second top-grossing non-crossover Precure film, behind only DokiDoki! Precure the Movie: Mana’s Getting Married!!? The Dress of Hope Tied to the Future!, which grossed 950 million yen (6.62 million USD) in 2013.

The Quintessential Quintuplets *, a new TV special episode from the The Quintessential Quintuplets anime franchise, dropped four places from last week to ninth. Ahead of its TV broadcast in Japan, the special episode has screened in 109 theaters across Japan for a limited time of three weeks since September 20.Given The Movie: Umi e, the final installment of the given anime series, held the No.1 spot for two consecutive weeks in Kogyo Tsushinsha’s mini theater ranking. The 80-minute film opened in 30 theaters in Japan on September 20.

The first of the two-part compilation film based on the BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! TV anime series, subtitled Haru no Hidamari, Mayoineko (translated to “A Spring Sunny Spot, A Stray Cat”) opened in 79 theaters across Japan on September 27, but didn’t appear in the overall top 10 ranking. The second part, subtitled Utau, Bokura ni Nareru Uta (“Sing, A Song That We Can Be Ourselves”) & FILM LIVE, is set to follow on November 8.
