The official X (formerly Twitter) for the three-member vocal unit Kalafina’s staff announced today that their reunion concert, titled “Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025,” is set to be held at Tokyo Garden Theater on January 15, 2025.Kalafina, consisting of three female singers — Wakana, Keiko, and Hikaru, started their activities as composer Yuki Kajiura’s musical project in 2008, releasing 21 singles and five original albums. After Kajiura left her and the unit’s agency Space Craft Produce in February 2018, the unit announced their breakup in March 2019. It has been six years since their breakup. The statement reads:
To all of you who support Kalafina. We are pleased to announce that we will be holding the ‘Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025.’ We have decided to sing together again as a trio, as we have received your heartfelt support for Kalafina while we have been working as solo artists. We look forward to seeing you at the venue!
Meanwhile, the unit’s founder/producer Yuki Kajiura is not involved in this reunion concert and Satoshi Takebe, known for his works for popular J-Pop artists, such as Yumi Matsutoya and Momoiro Clover Z, will serve as the musical director.Kajiura said in the statement posted on her official X (formerly Twitter), “I have received inquiries about Kalafina-san’s upcoming concert, but I, Yuki Kajiura, am not involved in any way with this concert, nor have I received any official notice or explanation from the organizer or any of the members about the concert beforehand. As such, I am unable to answer any of questions.”She also added, “I guess everyone in Kalafina has decided to to stay away from being produced by me, and move on as a new Kalafina without my knowledge. I have been looking for a way to weave Kalafina’s music together again in the future, but it is no longer possible. It is a great pity, but it is a path that all the members have clearly chosen. We are all human beings searching for the path of sound with each other, so things like this happen.” In the end of the statement, she said, “As you all know, these are three truly wonderful singers. I am sure that they will continue to deliver their wonderful voices and music to their fans. I would like to express my sincere gratitude again for the happiness we have had in making music together for almost a decade, and I wish Kalafina-san all the best in their future endeavors.”
