Based on the award-winning manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, Tetsuaki Watanabe (Haikyu!! episode director) directed BLUE LOCK and assistant-directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa (Sword Art Online Alicization episode director) at studio Eightbit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime).
