Previously teased last week, Ghibli Park, an amusement park in Aichi Prefecture inspired by the animated films of Studio Ghibli, has confirmed that the upcoming special event celebrating the park’s second anniversary will be sound and music themed. The event, entitled “Ghibli Park no Onkyou Sekai” (“Ghibli Park’s Acoustics World”), runs from November 2 – 4 and 15 – 17, 2024.
Guests who experience the event can use special earphones and bags equipped with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology to discover the sounds and music of Studio Ghibli films at some 50 “sound nodes” placed throughout Ghibli Park and the surrounding Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park area.
Produced by musician Taisei Iwasaki, the event is designed to be an immersive experience that reacts to guests’ actions rather than simply playing music and sounds effects on a constant loop from the park’s speakers or via a prerecorded soundtrack.
