Rilakkuma, a mascot character created by Aki Kondo in 2003 for the San-X stationery company, is receiving another anime adaptation, and an announcement trailer video has been published for the project. Projection I.G will animate the newly announced anime.
The video (below) features direction by Yoshimi Itazu (The Concierge) and highlights Lilas Ikuta performing the official theme song for the new anime, which is entitled “stay with me”. At the time of this writing no further details about the new anime (such as the staff, the cast, or the release window) have yet been revealed.
Rilakkuma was previously adapted in 2019 into the stop-motion animation series Rilakkuma and Kaoru, which streams on Netflix. San-X describes the character of Rilakkuma as follows:
“Rilakkuma” means “Bear in relaxed mood”.
At all time and everywhere Rilakkuma goes Rilakkuma is continuously lazy and relaxed.
Rilakkuma is totally stress-free and also doing things at Rilakkuma’s pace.
Rilakkuma is someone impossible to be hated by others.
You will be dragged into Rilakkuma’s world and become lazy and relaxed while watching everything Rilakkuma does.
