In order to meet popular demand for the series among kids in India, children’s gag manga Obocchama-kun (“Little Princeling”) is getting a newly announced anime adaptation through the combined efforts of TV Asahi and Sony Pictures Networks India. The new series will broadcast in India on the “SONY YAY!” children’s entertainment channel beginning in spring 2025.

Shin-Ei Animation provides the scenarios for the new Obocchama-kun anime, while Indian animation studios will handle the animation production. The series will run for 26 episodes, with each episode being approximately 22 minutes in length.Shogakukan published the original Obocchama-kun manga by Yoshinori Kobayashi in their Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine from May 1986 – September 1994, and the series was also published as a total of 24 collected volumes in Japan. Shin-Ei Animation also produced an earlier anime adaptation, which broadcast in Japan from January 1989 – September 1992. The story of the series follows the adventures of Chama Obo, a spoiled and foolish heir to a massive corporation, who enrolls in an elite school for the children of wealthy families.
