It’s been six years since Legendary (Pacific Rim, Godzilla) and Sunrise/Bandai Namco Filmworks teamed up to announce a Hollywood live-action Mobile Suit Gundam film. Now Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle is being brought on board to write and direct. In addition to those duties, Mickle will produce the film along with his partner Linda Moran and their Nightshade company. While little is known about the story, the live-action Gundam film is reportedly hoping to start production in early 2025.
Prior to this update, the Gundam movie had Legendary and Bandai Namco working with Netflix with director Jordan Vogt-Robers (Kong: Skull Island) at the helm. Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the Mobile Suit Gundam series started with the 1979 TV anime, which is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.Synopsis:
