At a special screening and talk event for Pompo the Cinephile held at the New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival 2024 in Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan, director Takayuki Hirao (Pompo: The Cinephile, Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack) surprised attendees with an unannounced screening of a pilot film for his next animation project, tentatively titled WASTED CHEF.Additionally, a piece of teaser artwork (above) depicting the front entrance of an American-style diner was also revealed.

As previously reported, WASTED CHEF reunites Hirao with key staff members from Pompo the Cinephile. As with that earlier film, Shingo Adachi provides the character designs, Kenta Matsukuma provides the music, and animation studio CLAP provides the animation production. At the time of this reporting, no further details about WASTED CHEF have yet been revealed.
