The Haruhi Suzumiya franchise has launched a project to produce a new song and music video performed by the main characters including Haruhi Suzumiya, Mikuru Asahina, and Yuki Nagato.As reported in August, The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekijo in Japanese), the latest 13th volume of Nagaru Tanigawa’s Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series will release simultaneously in Japan and worldwide on November 29, 2024. This project has been launched to commemorate the release.The crowdfunding campaign for the project will open on CAMPFIRE on November 15 at 20:00 (JST). The initial target amount is 10 million yen (65,436 USD). If that first goal is achieved, a song sung by Haruhi, Mikuru, and Nagato and a music video using a 3D model of Haruhi are guaranteed to be produced. And if the second goal of 15 million yen (98,154 USD) is achieved, 3D models of Mikuru and Nagato will also be added in the music video. The song and music video are scheduled to be revealed in the first half of 2025.Aki Hata will work on the lyrics of the new song, while Tomokazu Tashiro on music. The two were responsible for the TV anime first season’s ending theme, “Hare Hare Yukai.” And Aya Hirano, Yuko Goto, and Minori Chihara —the original three voice cast members of Haruhi, Mikuru, and Yuki — will perform the song together.
