A new, very important cast member joins the ranks of Be Forever Yamato REBEL 3199—and she’s taking the role on from her mother.
Megumi Han will be playing Sasha, the niece of protagonist Susumu Kodai. Besides being Kodai’s only remaining blood relative, Sasha plays a very important role in the story going forward.
Han’s mother, voice actress Keiko Han, voiced Sasha in the original 1980 Be Forever Yamato film. Megumi Han is an accomplished voice actor in her own right as well, with roles including Kana Arima in Oshi no Ko and Meimei in The Apothecary Diaries.
Be Forever Yamato REBEL 3199 is based on the feature film Be Forever Yamato (Yamato yo Towa ni) in 1980, and also includes some elements from the third original TV series Space Battleship Yamato III in 1980-1981.Sci-fi writer Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn) serves as general director, series composition and screenplay writer. He has already served as series compositor and screenplay writer for the remake series’ second installment, Space Battleship Yamato 2202, in 2017-2019 and the third installment, Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage, in 2021-2022. Meanwhile, Naomichi Yamato (Shin Sekai Yori -From the New World assistant director) serves as director.

The year is 2207 A.D. Two years have passed since the disappearance of Gamilas and Iskandar. Suddenly, a mysterious giant object, “Grand Reverse,” appeared in the solar system. Despite the best efforts of the Earth Defense Forces, “Grand Reverse” easily broke through multiple layers of defenses and descended into the Earth’s new capital city. Swarms of descending soldiers appeared without a sound. Multi-legged tanks landing. In the blink of an eye, the capital was overrun. Is there no way for the Earth to resist?
