The idol industry manga series Oshi no Ko came to an end today in Weekly Young Jump, bringing a finale to the Aka Akasaka (story) and Mengo Yokoyari (art) series. To celebrate the final chapter, the series also revealed the manga has printed (physically) and sold (digitally) more than 20 million copies, putting it on the ever-expanding list of highest-selling manga of all time. Fans of Aka Akasaka’s writing won’t have to wait for long for their next series, as their next work will also start in Weekly Young Jump in Spring 2025. The work will be written by Akasaka and Aoi Ikujira — who previously wrote and drew Geek Circle Crisis — alongside teaming up with the illustration team Azychika, who currently draws the Record of Ragnarok manga. A teaser image of the series was released.
The series is set to be a fantasy romance manga that depicts the love story of prince and princess in a fairy tale setting. No release date was announced at the time of reporting.
The Oshi no Ko manga was adapted into two TV anime series and a third season currently in production. A live-action series and a live-action film are also both set to release over the next month on Amazon Prime Video and in Japanese theaters respectively, as well as a 2.5D stage play to premiere next month in Tokyo based on the stage play arc of the manga. Yen Press publishes the manga in English, and it’s also available digitally through Shueisha’s MANGA PLUS service. MANGA PLUS describes the story:
