Cat’s Eye, City Hunter author Tsukasa Hojo’s another popular manga series in the 1980s, will receive a new anime adaptation on Disney Plus’s Star brand in 2025.It was also revealed that Ado will cover the opening theme song for the first TV anime in 1983-1984, “CAT’S EYE,” originally performed by Anri. A special teaser movie using “CAT’S EYE” sung by Ado has been streamed.”With the greatest respect, I covered the original theme song, ‘CAT’S EYE,’ under the arrangement of Yuki Hayashi-san,” said Ado. “When I sang the song, I respected Anri-san and mixed her 80’s singing style with my own colors. Hojo’s original manga series was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from September 1981 to January 1985, releasing 18 tankobon volumes in total. Its first TV anime adaptation was aired for two seasons: Cat’s Eye for 36 episodes from July 1983 to March 1984, and Cat’s Eye 2 for 37 episodes from October 1984 to July 1985.Coamix, which is releasing the manga’s English edition on its MangaHotto app, describes the series:
A mysterious art thief named Cat’s Eye exclusively goes after the works of European painter Michael Heinz. Detective Toshio Utsumi fails to arrest Cat’s Eye at every turn, getting scolded by his boss, and even facing demotion. Toshio’s girlfriend Hitomi Kisugi, who runs a café near the precinct which shares the name of this thief, is always there to listen to his gripes and give him a pick-me-up. Little does he know that Hitomi and her sisters are actually Cat’s Eye.
