An official website and X (formerly Twitter) account opened today revealed that a TV anime adaptation of Tokuya Higashikawa’s Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de (“The Dinner Table Detective”) mystery novel is in the works for a planned 2025 release and will feature original character designs by Oreco Tachibana (Firefly Wedding manga).
A teaser visual illustrated by Tachibana was also unveiled. Additional details, such as production staff and cast, were not confirmed at the time of reporting.
Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de Anime Teaser Visual
The first volume of Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de was published by Shogakukan in September 2010 and was followed by two more volumes in November 2011 and December 2012, respectively. The series was previously adapted into a live-action series and live-action film.
The story follows Reiko, the heiress of the international Hosho Group working as a rookie detective in the Kunitachi police department, serving under the heir to Kazamatsuri Motors. As they tackle difficult cases together, Reiko often consults her butler and driver, Kageyama, whose sharp instincts and tongue guide her to solutions — but only after dinner.
