The shining jewel of Monkey Punch’s beloved library of works, Lupin the 3rd, is officially returning to theaters in 2025 with the franchise’s first 2D animated feature film since 1997’s Lupin the 3rd: Dead or Alive. An exciting announcement video for the tentatively titled “LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE” was shared today, along with initial staff and cast details.
A longer version of the trailer is being shown at 45th-anniversary screenings of Lupin the 3rd The Castle of Cagliostro, which commenced today in Japan.

Takeshi Koike (Lupin the 3rd: Fujiko’s Lie, Redline) directs the new Lupin the 3rd anime film at studio Telecom Animation Film, with a script by Yuya Takahashi (Lupin the 3rd Part IV) and music by James Shimoji (Redline). Katsuhito Ishii (Redline original creator) serves as creative advisor and TOHO NEXT is distributing the film.
