The first season premiered on Tencent Video for 15 episodes in 2018, with Season 2 airing for eight episodes in 2019, with the series produced at Tencent Penguin Pictures and B.C May Pictures. A live-action version, titled The Untamed, also premiered on Tencent Video in 2019. The original novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu debuted in 2015, and Seven Seas Entertainment releases the English edition of the novel and manhua.
