The official website for The Apothecary Diaries anime today posted a main trailer for its upcoming second season. The clip features the new season’s opening theme song “Hyakka Ryoran” (“A Profusion of Flowers”) sung by singer-songwriter Lilas Ikuta, who has also performed as the vocalist of YOASOBI under the stage name Ikura.

While YOASOBI has provided many anime theme songs, this is Ikuta’s first time as a solo artist performing an opening song for a TV anime series. “Because I have experienced firsthand the response to the first season, I am very honored to be in charge of the opening theme for the second season,” said Ikuta. “While incorporating the excitement that I got more and more absorbed in The Apothecary Diaries and my love for the story and the characters into the music, We were working on the song with the tense that could bring a new breath into the world of the anime.”
The site also revealed a visual for a new character, Shisui, who is introduced as “a chatty, cheerful, insect-loving servant girl.” Asami Seto (Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero) is cast as Shisui. “This work is full of my favorite things: the historical setting, the incidents that take place in the back palace, Maomao’s solving the mysteries, the cool Jinshi-sama…etc,” said Seto. “So I am very happy to be able to participate as a voice actor in this work.”
Following the first season that aired from October 2023 to March 2024, the second season of The Apothecary Diaries is set to premiere in Japan on January 10, 2025. Crunchyroll will stream the new season as it airs for members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS.Crunchyroll describes The Apothecary Diaries as such:
