Godzilla may be keeping busy on the big and small screen—From Legendary’s film series and the Monarch show to Japan’s own Oscar-winning output—but he still has time to treat Marvel’s finest superheroes like the pint-sized speed bags they are. Enter Godzilla vs. Marvel, the Big G’s first crossover event with the House of Ideas in almost 50 years. The six-issue limited series will include one-shots featuring everyone from the Fantastic Four and Thor to Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and the X-Men. The stories will span various time periods starting with the first issue, Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four, which streets in March 2025 with Ryan North writing and John Romita Jr. providing the art. This one has the superhero team taking on King Ghidorah, and despite the title of the series, Godzilla will attempt to save the world with a little help from the Silver Surfer. This all comes hot on the heels of Godzilla’s 70th anniversary celebration this year. According to Marvel VP of licensing and publishing Sven Larsen, it took years of talks with Toho to pull it off in the first place.
The last time Godzilla was stomping around the Marvel Bullpen was in the late ’70s, back when he had his own series titled Godzilla, King of the Monsters. Marvel reacquired the rights to all 24 issues of the 1977-1978 series in 2023 and republished them in omnibus form in October 2024. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
