The official website for GEKIDAN “HAIKYU!!,” a new stage adaptation project based on Haruichi Furudate’s volleyball-themed sports manga Haikyu!, revealed a trailer and main visual for its upcoming second show, “Deai” (“ENCOUNTER”). The new show will depict the “encounter” between the Karasuno High School Volleyball Club, of which the main character Shoyo Hinata is a member, and Nekoma High School in Tokyo, who had a history of rivalry with them.

Following Hyper Projection Engeki Haikyu!!, the successful previous stage play project that ran from November 2015 to May 2021, a new theater company, GEKIDAN “HAIKYU!!”, was established for a new stage play series based on the manga in August 2022. Their first show performed in Tokyo in August 2023. Their second show, GEKIDAN “HAIKYU!!” ENCOUNTER, is scheduled to perform at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo from May 17 to 25, 2025, then at COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA WW Hall in Osaka from Mya 30 to June 1, 2025. General sales of the tickets will begin on March 16, 2025.The English ticketing website will also open on March 16, 2025, at 10:00am (JST) for overseas. The website accepts credit cards and is also accessible from outside of Japan.
Kenta Suga, who served as the director of Gekidan Haikyu!!’s first show, is confirmed to return to the same position. He played the protagonist Shoyo Hinata in the previous series from 2015 to 2018. The script will be written by Masami Ito, music by Shunsuke Wada, and choreography and staging by HIDALI. The first show’s two lead cast members — Kenshiro Kato as Shoyo Hinata and Seiya Wakabayashi as Tobio Kageyama — are confirmed to return.
