Pokémon‘s baby brand monpoké reimagines the familiar video game creatures smaller, softer and cuter for very tiny fans. The line includes clothes and books… and soon, an anime!
A new short anime, simply titled monpoké, will focus on the adventures of Pikachu arriving on Monpoké Island. There, the iconic ‘mon will meet Dedenne, Ludicolo and many others.
Each episode will run five minutes. Tokyo Mew Mew author Reiko Yoshida, whose anime screenwriting credits include K-ON! and Non Non Biyori, writes the series. Aggretsuko studio Fanworks will animate the series.
To celebrate the announcement, the Pokémon Kids TV Japan YouTube Channel has released a music video of the show’s theme song, “Hajimemashite, o atsumeyo.” (“Nice to meet you, let’s collect them.”) The video features scenes from the upcoming series.
monpoké premieres February 19, 2025 on the Pokémon Kids TV Japan YouTube Channel. Episodes 1 and 2 will be released at that time, with a new five-minute episode to follow every Wednesday thereafter.
