Iñaki Godoy, who plays Luffy in the live-action One Piece series, has been practicing his Japanese skills over the past year for one moment – to talk directly with Eiichiro Oda without the need for an interpreter.
That moment came in the form of an interview between the two creatives released on one of Netflix’s YouTube accounts today, where Godoy not only spoke with Oda about what makes Luffy such a compelling protagonist but also made the One Piece creator laugh on many occasions.
The first season of the live-action One Piece series debuted in August 2023. Season 2 is currently in production with a premiere date not announced at the time of reporting but will be released when manga creator Eiichiro Oda is happy with it.
While we wait for the second season of the live-action adaptation, you can catch the iconic One Piece anime in English sub and English dub, right here on Crunchyroll.
