The first video game for the Natsume’s Book of Friends series was recently revealed, and now we have more info on what’s in the works. Natsume Yujin-cho: Hazuki no Shirushi is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC in Japan on June 5, 2025 from publisher Bushiroad Games and developer Toydium.Natsume Yujin-cho: Hazuki no Shirushi puts players in the shoes of Takashi Natsume, allowing them to move through the world of the series and spend their summer with its many characters. You’ll be able to hang out with classmates, help family members and hear the troubles of various yokai.

Japan will be getting a standard physical and digital version for Switch, as well as a first-print limited edition priced at ¥12,980 (about US$83). The latter packs the game in a special box with an A3-size clear poster, Nyanko-sensei pencil case, four Nyanko-sensei badges, a postcard book, Shuuichi Natori bromide and promo card.Crunchyroll streams the Natsume’s Book of Friends anime and describes it like so:
Takashi Natsume has been able to see youkai, Japanese monsters, his whole life. He inherited a book of youkai names from his grandmother, Reiko. These names give their owner power over the youkai, so he and his self-proclaimed bodyguard “Nyanko-sensei” spend their days returning them to their original owners. As Natsume finally finds a place where he feels welcome, he meets and says goodbye to new Youkai….
