Things are about to get a bit fishy during the summer season of 2025, because a new full length theatrical anime film, entitled ChaO, has been announced by animation studio STUDIO4℃ (Poupelle of Chimney Town, Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko). The main staff and a teaser image (below) have been revealed for the film.
Yasuhiro Aoki directs the film at STUDIO4℃. Hirokazu Kojima provides the character designs and serves as animation director, while Hiroshi Takiguchi serves as art director. TOEI will distribute the film in Japan. The story of ChaO is described as follows:
A future society where humans and mermaids coexist. Stephen, an office worker, is suddenly asked to marry by Chao, a princess of the mermaid kingdom! A 100% pure love story!
