The upcoming anime adaptation of Tatsuro Suga’s manga The Catcher in the Ballpark! has added two more “residents” to the bleachers of the baseball stadium. Meet the pair of security guards keeping baseball fans safe—albeit guided by very different motivations.
Takimoto (left) and Igarashi (right)
Jin Urayama (Tatsuma Suguro in Blue Exorcist) voices Igarashi, a veteran stadium security guard with 30 years of experience. Everyone calls him “Iga-san.”Chiharu Sawashiro (Bobby Ball in HIGH CARD) voices new part-time security guard Takimoto. He isn’t a big fan of security work and finds Iga-san’s earnestness difficult to deal with; mainly, he’s just there because he likes watching baseball.
Junichi Kitamura (Fluffy Paradise) directs The Catcher in the Ballpark! anime at studio EMT Squared, with series composition by Shigeru Murakoshi (I Parry Everything), character designs by Fumio Iida and music by MONACA (Shangri-La Frontier). The anime’s official website describes the story (translated):
“Am I your type, Onii-san~?”
One day at a baseball stadium, a gyaru selling beer approaches!? But she’s actually a super innocent and kind-hearted girl…♡
The setting is a pro-league baseball stadium! Many people gather there every day to work and laugh together, and human drama is born there — it’s almost like a town!
So, why not become a “resident” of that town?!
A romantic-comedy full of laughs and tears, dedicated to all those involved in professional baseball!
