The nine-member idol group LINKL PLANET will release the Gundam plastic model’s (Gunpla for short) 45th anniversary song “Mune ni Itsumo Gunpla wo” (“Always have a Gunpla in your heart”) on March 19, 2025, as their third single. The first Gundam plastic model kit was released in July, 1980, six months after the first TV anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam, finished airing in Japan, and Bandai has shipped more than 760 million units by March 2023.
LINKL PLANET was formed by five members selected through the “PLAMO GIRLS PROJECT” audition held by BANDAI SPIRITS, Bandai Namco Holdings’ wholly-owned subsidiary that targets at adult collectors, in November 2021, then four additional members joined in December 2022. They aim to become idols that connect plastic models with their fans and the world (=planet) with plastic models, like a plastic model connecting parts to parts. The members have served as official plastic model ambassadors for BANDAI SPIRITS.The CD jacket artwork for “Mune ni Itsumo Gunpla wo” was shot based on the concept that the 45th anniversary ceremony was held at the Bandai Hobby Center, a “Gunpla Factory” in Shizuoka, the birthplace of Gunpla.
