Upcoming sports-fan anime The Catcher in the Ballpark! continues to populate its cast with people from all parts of the business and fandom of baseball. Today’s cast additions are something of a power couple!Joining the cast are Rika Tachibana (Noa Akizuki in Liar, Liar) and Hiroki Tochi (Maine in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) as married couple Yuki and Kojiro.
Playing right field and batting seventh is Kojiro (right), a veteran player with 200 career home runs. His wife Aki (left) is a retired baseball announcer who now watches from the stands.In a moment of art imitating life, Rika Tachibana has something in common with her character: she is also married to a baseball player! In 2019, the voice actress announced her marriage to Orix Buffaloes catcher Kenya Wakatsuki.
Junichi Kitamura (Fluffy Paradise) directs The Catcher in the Ballpark! anime at studio EMT Squared, with series composition by Shigeru Murakoshi (I Parry Everything), character designs by Fumio Iida and music by MONACA (Shangri-La Frontier).The anime’s official website describes the story (translated):

One day at a baseball stadium, a gyaru selling beer approaches!? But she’s actually a super innocent and kind-hearted girl…♡
The setting is a pro-league baseball stadium! Many people gather there every day to work and laugh together, and human drama is born there — it’s almost like a town!
So, why not become a “resident” of that town?!
A romantic-comedy full of laughs and tears, dedicated to all those involved in professional baseball!
