Created and written by Gen Urobuchi, Thunderbolt Fantasy released its first season in 2016, with a second season following in 2018 and a third season in 2021. The series has also inspired two films: The Sword of Life and Death and Bewitching Melody of the West in 2017 and 2019, respectively. The fourth season originally broadcast in Japan from October to December 2024 for 12 episodes. A finale movie, titled Thunderbolt Fantasy: Toriken Yuki Saishusho, is scheduled to premiere in Japan on February 21, 2025.
