Based on the manga by Aidalro, the first season of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun was directed by Masaomi Ando at studio Lerche, with series composition by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, character designs by Mayuka Ito and music by Hiroshi Takaki. Masaki Kitamura directed the first four episodes of the After-school Hanako-kun spin-off anime, also at studio Lerche.

Kamome Academy is rumored to have many mysteries, the strangest of which involves the mischievous ghost of Hanako-kun.
