The Catcher in the Ballpark! Anime Casts Kentaro Tone and Ko Bonkobara

Kentaro Tone (Chingosman in ZENSHU) voices Dennis (left), the Motorsuns third baseman who bats cleanup. A former major leaguer from Chicago, Dennis is aiming to impress any scouts who might be in the stands and return to the majors.Ko Bonkobara (Kuro in SHIBUYA♡HACHI) voices Brian, the Motorsuns’ designated hitter. After a long history in the minors, he took off in the world of Japanese baseball.The two players’ numbers will be of interest to baseball fans. Dennis sports #34, a number belonging to two prominent Chicago Cubs players of years past. Meanwhile, Brian wears Jackie Robinson’s legendary #42—a number retired from use except on Jackie Robinson Day (April 15), when all players on the field wear the number in his honor.

Junichi Kitamura (Fluffy Paradise) directs The Catcher in the Ballpark! anime at studio EMT Squared, with series composition by Shigeru Murakoshi (I Parry Everything), character designs by Fumio Iida and music by MONACA (Shangri-La Frontier).The anime’s official website describes the story (translated):

“Am I your type, Onii-san~?”

One day at a baseball stadium, a gyaru selling beer approaches!? But she’s actually a super innocent and kind-hearted girl…♡

The setting is a pro-league baseball stadium! Many people gather there every day to work and laugh together, and human drama is born there — it’s almost like a town!
