A musical adaptation of Aya Kanno’s dark fantasy historical drama manga Requiem of the Rose King is set to perform at Kokumin Kyosai coop Hall / Space Zero in Tokyo from April 19 to 27, 2025. Akiko Kodama, who previously worked on the Live Spectacle Naruto stage play series from 2015 to 2023, serves as director. And former Takarazuka star Tsukasa Hiryu is cast as the protagonist, Richard.
Aya Kanno’s Requiem of the Rose King manga, which is loosely based on the Shakespearean plays Henry VI, Part 3 and Richard III, was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Monthly Princess magazine from October 2013 to January 2022, and was compiled in 17 tankobon volumes, printing over two million copies. The manga’s TV anime adaptation produced by J.C.STAFF aired for 24 episodes from January to June 2022. Additionally, a straight stage play based on the TV anime performed in June 2022.Crunchyroll, which is streaming the TV anime series, describes the synopsis as such:
