Mononoke the Movie: The Ashes of Rage, the second part in a running anime film trilogy, today unveiled a brand-new main trailer and visual before the Medicine Seller’s exploits continue in Japanese theaters on March 14, 2025. Five cast additions were also revealed.
The visual’s tagline reads, “If you don’t cut it off, it won’t stop.”

Kenji Nakamura directs Mononoke the Movie: The Ashes of Rage at animation studio Twin Engine EOTA. Kitsuneko Nagata provides the original character designs, Yuuichi Takahashi provides the animation character designs and serves as chief animation director, and Taku Iwasaki provides the music. The first film in the trilogy, Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, currently streams on Netflix.

In feudal Japan, evil spirits known as mononoke plague both households and the countryside. Only one person has the power to kill them where they stand: the Medicine Seller. But in order to draw his spirit-slaying sword he must first understand the Form, Truth, and Reason of the mononoke. Armed with sharp wit, he wanders from place to place striking down the evil spirits in his wake.
