The new Yaiba: Samurai Legend anime is based on the manga by Detective Conan / Case Closed author Gosho Aoyama, so it’s only fitting that the two series broadcast side-by-side. A premiere date of April 5, 2025 was announced for the new anime, putting it in the 5:30 p.m. Saturday timeslot just ahead of Detective Conan‘s 6:00 p.m. broadcast. Fittingly, the hour-long Saturday block will be dubbed the “Gosho Aoyama Hour.”The latest episode of Detective Conan also ended with a special collaboration video. Minami Takayama—who voices the protagonists of both series and was also the original voice of Yaiba Kurogane in the previous anime—performed a dialogue between the characters in the video, which has the pair reacting to one another. Other character collaboration videos from the two Aoyama series are set to air at the end of Conan episodes on February 15 and 22.

Shogakukan serialized the original Yaiba manga from 1988 – 1993 in their Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, and the series was also previously adapted into a TV anime which broadcast in Japan from April 1993 – April 1994. Takahiro Hasui directs Yaiba: Samurai Legend at WIT Studio. Toko Machida provides the series composition, Yoshimichi Kameda provides the character designs and chief animation direction, and Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa provide the music.The official website describes Yaiba: Samurai Legend:
