Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- continues to fly high at Japanese cinemas, giving theatergoers a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming Universal Century series. Today, it’s been announced that there’s even more coming to the movie!Starting February 22, the theatrical release will include a special video after the main screening, showcasing what’s coming next in the story. This new video will be shown at all cinemas in all formats—regular, IMAX, MX4D and 4DX—although there is no word yet on whether this special footage will be included in screenings outside Japan.
The latest audience gift has also been revealed: an illustration card of Machu and Nyaan, drawn by animation character designer/chief character animation director Yumi Ikeda:
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is co-produced at studio khara, which handled the Evangelion movie series, and Sunrise, which has worked on the Gundam series since the first TV anime series in 1979. Kazuya Tsurumaki, who co-directed the Rebuild of Evangelion film series including the final installment Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, serves as director, alongside series composition writer Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno, character designer Take (Pokémon) and mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita.GKIDS will be releasing Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- in North America starting February 28, 2025. Sugoi Co will release the feature in Australia and New Zealand starting February 27. GKIDS describes the anime as such:
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space. When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era.
