The cover of The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All‘s third printed manga volume revealed that an anime adaptation of the yuri slice-of-life comedy series is in production, followed by a confirmation today by author Sumiko Arai. Additional details about the project, such as staff, cast and release date were not announced at the time of reporting.Arai shared the following statement in English:

A few years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined a third book in bookstores let alone an anime adaptation of this series. The series has earned popular and critical acclaim, earning accolades from Da Vinci magazine, Kono Manga ga Sugoi and Next Manga Award.A drama CD adaptation was released in April 2024, starring Akari Kito as Aya and Mariya Ise as Mitsuki.Yen Press publishes an official English version of the manga and describes the story:
