The official X (formerly Twitter) for Shinsuke Kondo’s Ninja Vs. Gokudo action manga series announced today that the manga will receive a TV anime adaptation. Details such as production company and broadcast dates are not disclosed as of this reporting. The X post includes the manga author’s newly-drawn celebratory illustration.
The manga author also said, “So, ‘Ninja Vs. Gokudo’ is going to be made into an anime! It is a miracle that it came true after myself and my editor had been saying ‘It’s impossible to make it visualized’ for a long time! I can feel the passion of the staff to animate this manga with love to the limit of what is allowed on the air! I hope all the members (readers) are looking forward to the broadcast!”
The Ninja Vs. Gokudo manga has been serialized on Kodansha’s Comic Days website since January 2020, so far 14 tankobon volumes have released in Japan. Kodansha USA, which has licensed an English edition of the manga, describes the synopsis of the first volume as such:
Since ancient times, the ninja and the yakuza have been at war, spilling blood around the world as empires rise and fall. So when, in the modern age, Shinoha, a ninja, meets Kiwami, a gangster following the path of the yakuza—the gokudo—and discovers they have common interests, the obvious assumption is that nothing good can come of it. But can it be that one burgeoning bromance will shake up a 300-year grudge? Who will win the struggle for real ultimate power?
