The song is inspired by a passage from the Tang Dynasty poet Yuan Zhen’s “Thoughts on Parting,” which describes a snake’s desire for knowledge as it awakens from sleep in the spring and crawls outside to learn about the world. The music video was directed by Miyo Sato, an animation artist who collaborated with Yorushika for the first time on this video. She said, “When I heard the song ‘Hebi’ and learned the meaning of the Wu Mountain in the lyrics, I connected it with my own image of a snake, and a painting of two men and a woman came to mind. I expressed the memories and scenery floating beautifully in their memories through sand painting and paint-on-glass animation.”
