There’s no summer like a Grand Blue Dreaming summer. Fortunately for fans of the absurd comedy series, the anime is officially returning for its second season starting July 7, 2025 at 24:30 JST (effectively July 8 at 0:30) in Japan!
The announcement today included that Shonan no Kaze will return to perform the opening theme song “Seishun Toha,” featuring ATARASHII GAKKO!.
Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2 will hold a stage event at the NBCUniversal Entertainment booth during AnimeJapan 2025 on March 22 with cast members Yuma Uchida, Ryohei Kimura, Chika Anzai and Yoshino Aoyama in attendance.
Based on the manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, Shinji Takamatsu (Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto) returns to direct the second season of Grand Blue Dreaming at studios Zero-G and Liber, with character designs and chief animation direction by Hideoki Kusama and music by Yukari Hashimoto (Senpai is an Otokonoko). The first season premiered in July 2018 and aired for 12 episodes.
Kodansha USA publishes the manga’s official English version and describes the story:
After graduating from an all-boys’ high school, Iori Kitahara moves away from home to go to college in a seaside town. He’s eager to start a new chapter in his life–one filled with dreams of reinventing himself, meeting beautiful girls, and reveling in his youth. But when his new abode is his uncle’s dive shop, Iori’s college debut doesn’t turn out as glamorously as he planned! Can Iori keep himself afloat, or will the booze-fueled antics of his university’s diving club wash him away?!
A coming-of-age tale with beer, bums, and the Grand Blue!
