This weekend at AnimeJapan 2025, the long-awaited anime adaptation of Disney Twisted-Wonderland magicked up some major news! In addition to revealing the series’s first fully-animated scenes, the big reveal also introduced a new protagonist.
First, check out the new trailer, showing real-world high schooler Yuuken Enma being whisked away to Twisted-Wonderland:

Readers of the Twisted-Wonderland manga will recognize Yuuken as the protagonist of the Heartslabyul arc. Each arc of the manga, in addition to focusing on one of Night Raven College’s seven houses, features a new protagonist in the position of player character “Yuu.” Yuuken Enma, a second-year high school student and skilled kendo practitioner, will be voiced by Yohei Azakami (Lewis Smith in Brave Bang Bravern!).

It has not yet been confirmed whether Yuuken will serve as the protagonist for all three seasons or whether, like the manga, we will see the arrival of different protagonists each season.
In addition to the new casting, we now know that the theme song of the game—”Piece of my world” by Disney Twisted-Wonderland voice actor group Night Ravens—will also serve as the series’ opening theme. Takumi Ozawa, who composed the music for the original mobile game, is also officially attached as composer for the series.
“Episode of Heartslabyul” is the first season of the adaptation, scheduled to premiere in October. “Episode of Savanaclaw” and “Episode of Octavinelle” will follow at undisclosed dates.
Takahiro Natori (TOKYO MEW MEW NEW) is in charge of Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation‘s series composition while also serving as chief director. Shin Katagai (The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible) directs the series at studios Yumeta Company and Graphinica and Yoichi Kato serves as the main writer, while Haruka Nakano and Akane Sato adapt Yana Toboso’s (Black Butler) original character designs for animation. Disney+ will stream the series starting in October.
The original game’s English website describes the world’s concept as such:
Summoned by a magic mirror to Twisted Wonderland, a world altogether unlike your own, you arrive at Night Raven College, a prestigious arcane academy.
With nowhere else to go, you accept the masked headmage’s hospitality and begin searching for a way home.
You quickly find that the students of this school are as talented as they are dysnfunctional—bickering and competition are the perpetual order of the day.
Will you be able to work with them and eventually return from whence you came?
And what secrets lie wthin the villainous hearts of these students?
