Series synopsis:
At the Queen’s behest, the 13-year-old earl Ciel Phantomhive and his loyal demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, leave the gritty underworld of nineteenth-century England and venture to the south of Germany to investigate a series of mysterious deaths. Legend has it, those who enter the Werewolves’ Forest are destined to be cursed, but Ciel and Sebastian press on to uncover the truth.
The original Black Butler manga by Yana Toboso began in 2006 in Square Enix’s G Monthly GFantasy manga magazine, with 34 volumes released in Japan to date. An English language version is also available from Yen Press.
Kenjiro Okada (March comes in like a lion chief director) continues to direct for the latest Black Butler anime at studio CloverWorks, with series composition by Hiroyuki Yoshino (World Trigger), character designs by Yumi Shimizu (Horimiya chief animation director). Maaya Sakamoto and Daisuke Ono reprise their roles as Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis, respectively.
