As revealed in an exclusive report on Deadline, the live-action film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding game has found its director. The feature has A24 producing alongside Kojima himself, and the team behind it has enlisted Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One) to direct.
Sarnoski is currently in post-production on his latest film, Death of Robin Hood, which also comes from A24 and stars Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
Prior to this, Kojima Productions announced a June 26 launch date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is in the works for PlayStation 5.
The first Death Stranding launched on November 8, 2019, featuring the voices and likenesses of Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and more. Here’s the official description:
In the future, a mysterious event known as the Death Stranding has opened a doorway between the living and the dead, leading to grotesque creatures from the afterlife roaming the fallen world marred by a desolate society.
As Sam Bridges, your mission is to deliver hope to humanity by connecting the last survivors of a decimated America.
Can you reunite the shattered world, one step at a time?
