A sequel film to Poupelle of Chimney Town was announced today, following the first 2020 theatrical anime movie based on the original books by Akihiro Nishino. The new film, entitled Entotsu-machi no Poupelle ~ Yakusoku no Tokeidai ~ (translated as “Poupelle of Chimney Town: The Promised Clocktower”), is scheduled to release in Japanese theaters in spring 2026.
As with the previous film, Yusuke Hirota directs at STUDIO4℃, with distribution by Toho and CHIMNEY TOWN. Additionally, a special video and a new illustration by Akihiro Nishino were released alongside the announcement.

Shout! Factory releases Poupelle of Chimney Town on home video in the United States, and describes the film as follows:
Poupelle of Chimney Town is the breathtaking story of young Lubicchi and a man made of garbage, Poupelle. Living among the thick smoke from the chimneys of his isolated town, Lubicchi yearns to see the “stars” — to know the truth — his father always told him about. Spectacularly beautiful, Poupelle of Chimney Town is filled with inspiring performances, splendid music and sound effects. Produced at Tokyo’s famed STUDIO4ºC, this astonishing film will bring tears, laughter, and joy.
