The legendary Takarazuka Revue—the all-female theatre troupe whose shows range from musical classics to anime adaptations—has locked in the Star Troupe’s next show. Starting this autumn, the troupe will stage their adaptation of the manga Alexander Daiou: Tenjou no Oukoku.
The manga, the title of which translates roughly to Alexander the Great: Kingdom of Heaven, debuted in October 1998. The series was penned by Michiyo Akashi, whose other works include Alpen Rose and Extra Girl. It was originally published in the Mystery DX magazine’s “Historical Romance DX” special edition, but was cut short when the magazine ended. The single volume ends with a summary of events that would have been covered had the series continued.

Kanon Amato is attached to play Alexander, with more cast announcements forthcoming. Daisuke Tabuchi, whose past Takazuka work includes Roman Holiday and this year’s Razzle Dazzle, will write and direct the production.
Musical Heritage: Alexander -The Kingdom of Heaven- will run from September 30 to October 12 at Takarazuka Bow Hall in Hyogo, then from October 21-27 at Tokyo Tatemono Brillia Hall.
