The official website for Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (KYOMAF for short), one of the largest manga and anime events in western Japan, announced today that its next 14th edition is set to be held at three locations (Miyako Messe, ROHM Theater Kyoto, Kyoto International Manga Museum) in Kyoto on September 20 and 21, 2025.
KYOMAFU was launched in 2012 with the aim of expanding the content market in the Kansai region, centering on Kyoto, by “supporting the creation of new businesses utilizing manga and anime,” “supporting the development of creators and creating employment opportunities,” “attracting new tourists, including young people and foreigners,” and “improving the brand of Kyoto as a content city by transmitting manga and anime culture overseas.”
Last year’s event, held on September 21-22, 2024, was the largest ever, with approximately 70 companies and organizations exhibiting and 35,466 visitors attending over the two days.
Continuing from last year, the main visual featuring Tsukasa Kyono, the official character of Kyoto City’s public relations, and Moe Uzumasa, the official support character of the Kyoto City Transportation Bureau subway and city bus, was unveiled. The visual was drawn by Sakura Momona, who won the grand prize in last year’s “KYO-MAF Creators Contest U25”
