The Star Wars: Visions anthology series—which features shorts from a handful of animation studios from Japan and around the world—is getting ready to expand some of its stories. One of the planned expansions is in the works for The Ninth Jedi, which has a limited series on the way to Disney+ in 2026.
The Ninth Jedi debuted as part of the first batch of Star Wars: Visions shorts in 2021. It features Kenji Kamiyama (The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim) as director, with Production I.G handling animation. Further details on the limited series have yet to be divulged.
The next anthology, Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, is now set to premiere on October 29.

The first volume of Star Wars: Visions premiered on September 22, 2021, featuring shorts from Japanese anime studios Kamikaze Doga, Studio Colorido, TRIGGER, Kinema Citrus, Production I.G, Science SARU and Geno Studio.
The second volume premiered on May 4, 2023 and consisted of shorts produced by Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), PunkRobot Studio (Chile), Studio Mir (South Korea), Aardman Animations (UK), Triggerfish Animation Studios (South Africa), D’ART Shtajio (Japan), Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India) and El Guiri Studios (Spain).
All are currently streaming exclusively on Disney+.
